Fiona David

Fiona David is the Chair of Research for Minderoo Foundation. A lawyer and anthropologist by training, Fiona has worked internationally for more than two decades at the intersection of justice, human rights and migration, with UN organisations, aid organisations, government agencies, and universities. As the first member of staff at the Walk Free Foundation, Fiona led the development of the Global Slavery Index, from 2014 – 2018. Prior to joining Minderoo Foundation, career highlights included interviewing smuggled migrants in Libya and Djibouti for the UN, representing Australia in treaty negotiations, leading the drafting of UN Model Laws on Transnational Crime and also Migrant Smuggling, and as the co-author of a leading international law textbook published by Cambridge University Press. Fiona has been part of Forrest Research Foundation selection committee processes since 2018.
