“Understanding the control of internal and external variables to pit lakes’ evolution can help us to define better strategies to transform these usually contaminated sites into valuable resources for regional communities and traditional owners after their remediation”
Claudio studied his BSc (hons) in Geology at the University of Chile and his Master of Hydrogeology at the University of Western Australia. He has more than 12 years of experience working as a consultant, researcher and regulator. During the recent years, he has mostly focused his career towards groundwater/reactive transport modelling and uncertainty quantification. His master research was focused on the fate and transport modelling of metals and metalloids which were released due to the injection of water during Managed Aquifer Recharge activities in Western Australia. The study of water quality changes due to the interaction of multiple variables will be further investigated during his PhD research on pit lakes evolution.
