Karissa developed a new tagging system that gives insight into the behaviour of 60 million year old critically endangered sawfish. Karissa’s sawfish work has featured on the ABC and by the Australian Academy of Science. In 2017 Karissa was awarded the best talk prize at the Australian Marine Science Association student workshop. She was also runner-up for the best poster prize at Murdoch University’s Research Symposium.
